About the Role

Quantitative Developer - Power/Gas Trading - City of London

TurleyWay are partnering with a Global Utility in London who are looking to appoint a Quantitative Developer with a strong power/gas fundamentals background. They operate a hybrid model with 3 days in the office.

You will work on-desk with Proprietary Trading Teams and Commodities Traders to help build a competitive edge in a fast-paced, commercial environment. You will report to the VP of Quantitative Analytics.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partner with the Trading teams to translate their requirements into technology solutions, tools, models and analytical libraries to support analysis/trading decisions

• Build and develop robust market models and analytics pipelines for the Trading teams

• Own the requirements and collaborate with IT on the development of the platform for analytics, integrating both real-time and historical market data

• Migrating legacy analytical applications to containerized processes

• Optimize data workflows and assure delivery from data providers

• Provide code enhancements and refactoring to assure robust process/outcomes

• Dashboarding and data visualization of analytics

• Develop/maintain system tools – to improve analysis of vendor/analyst products

 

Your profile:

• MSc or PhD in the area of Finance, Physics or STEM with strong quantitative focus

• Experience working in a trading environment delivering quantitative solutions centred on quantitative modelling across asset classes. Modelling and programming experience

• Understanding of commercial processes in EU Power/Gas markets (short/long term)

• Strong coding, model development and data management capabilities                             

• Experience with data intensive modelling and processes

• Coding in Python and ability to distinguish between procedural, functional, development and object-oriented programming

• Git, version control and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with Kubernetes, helm templates, and other IAC solutions and flux

• Advantageous: Experience with Microsoft Azure, Algorithmic Trading
