James's approach goes beyond merely matching technical skills; he prioritises aligning candidates and clients based on both technological proficiency and cultural compatibility, ensuring a good fit for both parties. Outside of work, James is an passionate golfer, though he humbly admits his skill level may not match his enthusiasm. Additionally, he is a proud supporter of Luton Town FC, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to his team for over 40 years.

Recent assignments filled:
Project Management Team | Energy

  • Brief: A longstanding client had recently appointed a new CIO role following a significant acquisition and urgently needed to establish a Project Management function to ensure the integration of multiple applications, retirement of legacy systems and migration of services to the cloud from on-premises, including data centres.  
  • Successful Profile(s): Three Project Managers with experience in specialised areas were identified from James’s network, including niche ERP knowledge and practical experience in closing down physical data centres.

Head of Data | Financial Services

  • Brief: An established financial services company was seeking to hire their first dedicated senior data leadership candidate to establish and develop a Data Function from the ground up. James provided guidance on the job description, salary and candidate profile before commencing the search. Given the specific nature of the role, a targeted candidate search was adopted.
  • Successful Profile: An experienced Data professional who had grown frustrated with the lack of progression at a competitor company was identified and successfully hired.

Product Director | Real Estate

  • Brief: A newly created Product Leadership role entailed taking ownership for an established global technology product. The key requirement was exceptional stakeholder management and engagement skills, especially at an international level. James recommended expanding the search beyond the traditional competitor companies and talent pools the client had previously considered for hiring.
  • Successful Profile: A slightly more junior candidate was selected who demonstrated real potential to grow into the role and displayed a strong desire for growth and development. With experience in a different industry, he was able to challenge the accepted ways of working and drive the product forward.
