Software Development Manager

This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven and passionate software development leader to play a key role in the continued growth of this global Fintech business. As the successful candidate you will work in partnership with key stakeholders across the business to identify, implement or improve cutting edge financial technology primarily within a Derivatives Trading environment. You will provide technical leadership for a diverse team of 10 developers and testers, be passionate about best practices, good software design principles alongside a DevOps mindset. A selection of your key responsibilities will include the architecture and design of the technology created and maintained by the delivery team, Collaborate with the Head of the business on the direction of the application. Work in partnership with the wider technology leadership team to define roadmap and strategy. You will oversee projects to ensure they are run efficiently and delivered on time, ensure production grade systems and proper documentation. Define software development best practices and processes; ensure they are followed and lead the planning and breakdown of sprints and user stories.

To be considered you will be able to demonstrate strong full-stack JavaScript coding skills with ideally NodeJS, TypeScript, ReactJS, jest, expressJS, GraphQL and be comfortable overseeing Back End .NET development with C#. Experience of building, distributing, and running applications using Docker images and familiarity with Real Time messaging integration patterns with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis etc. Team leadership and ability to set the technical direction for a team is essential. This is not a 100% hands-on engineering role but you must have strong technical experience and the ability to support and challenge software developers and third parties, for example directing the development in the detail,reviewing Pull Requests and pairing with developers. Previous experience with a financial trading environment would be beneficial but not essential. You must have experience and be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic, rapid change environment. The ability to drive best practice and maintain standards across the business is essential.
